The search for the female lead for Shootout at Wadala continues. The latest name who was considered for the role Asin has turned down the offer. The actress was recently in talks for the project but decided against doing it. Asin's business manager states, "Yes, she was approached to be part of the project. But had to turn it down as the required dates were clashing with another project."
Apparently the actress has given a chunk of her dates to Bol Bachchan for which she is currently shooting. Asin's move has led producer-director Sanjay Gupta's prequel to his 2007 flick Shootout at Lokhandwala left yet again with casting woes.A while back there was buzz that Vidya Balan was being considered for the role. But the actress who found the script interesting did not find it as interested to give it a nod.
Gupta who was initially keen to cast Vivek Oberoi was later forced to drop him apparently due to Vivek's unprofessional behaviour.Shootout at Wadala, which revolves around the first encounter killing in the city in the early '80s was launched in August last year with John Abraham and Anil Kapoor.
Actor Asin, who played Santa to a bereaved young boy on a recent episode of Superstar Santa on UTV Stars, was casually asked about who her best friends were in the Bollywood, and pat came the reply, “Well, I have quite a few good friends... Sonam (Kapoor) and Genelia (D'Souza) to name a few. But they're not my best friends! It is not possible to have a best friends in the industry.”
Well, not sure if that was a right thing to say, but at least the lass was honest enough to admit this. Right or wrong, we love it! After all, it's not every day that Asin makes such candid confessions!
May this new year bring many opportunities to your way, to explore every joy of life & may your resolutions for the days ahead stay firm, turning all your dreams into reality and all your efforts into great achievements. Happy New Year to you & your loved ones.

Asin has already sent feelers across to Soundarya Rajinikanth, that she is not averse to doing the animation film Kochadaiyaan with the superstar. The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Soundarya the producer and director of Kochadaiyaan would prefer a south Indian actress to be paired opposite her father. And Asin is the preferred choice, as she will make a nice pair with Rajinikanth.Asin as of now is not exactly hot in Bollywood where she has just two films- Housefull 2 and Bol Bachchan. Now is the right time to do a film with the southern superstar which will give her a worldwide reach.Asin has been quoted saying in a newspaper: “ You will have to ask the producer of the film , I can't comment about it now. I would love to work with Rajinikanth and if a good project comes by, I'll take it up. ”
It clearly means negotiations are in the final stages between Asin and Soundarya Rajinikanth. Asin's dream may be fulfilled early next year when Kochadaiyaan shooting starts by January end.
ABHISHEK IS FUN TO BE WITH: ASIN
Never mind that she was in Bangalore only for a few hours, Asin managed to grab as many eyeballs as she could in that short time. The media and fans of the young lady made a beeline to the hotel she had checked in to for those few hours. Catching her attention was the last thing possible. Though hounded by people, Asin did not let her beatific smile be disturbed by all the melee.
Metrolife caught up with Asin and got her talking on her new projects and future plans. Asin has grown immensely as an actress. After doing substantial roles in Pokkiri, Dasavathaaram and Ghajini in Tamil, she proved her mettle yet again in the Hindi version of Ghajini. It was only after this that she got noticed in Bollywood and before she realised, her film 'Ready' with Salman Khan topped the charts and now she has bagged another role opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Housefull 2' and with Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan in Bol Bachchan.
Things are moving at a pretty fast pace for the young lady and she seems to have no complaints. “It's my urge to perform better with each project, and the yearning to prove myself has got me thus far,” she tells Metrolife.Asin is keen that her work speaks and she's hell-bent on justifying her work. She hopes 'Housefull 2', the sequel, would be just as good or better. And she just can't stop raving about Abhishek Bachchan. “He's fun to be with. There's something amiss when Abhishek is not around while shooting. He's crazy in a good way and never loses a chance to make you laugh,” beams Asin.
She says that she is choosy when it comes to the projects. “The script, role, director, producer, banner and finally, the co-star — all these have to be good for me to agree on a project,” she asserts. When asked if she has any preferences when it comes to co-stars she says, “I have no favourites and have managed to maintain a friendly relation with both my male and female co-stars.” She adds, “I have had no issues or squabbles with any of my co-stars as reported by a section of the media. It's untrue.” However, Asin confesses that she would definitely like to do a film with Rajnikanth someday, “There's no one like him and it's been a dream to act with Rajni sir.”
'ASIN AND JACKY ARE MY REAL CLOSE FRIENDS': SONAM KAPPOOR
Sonam Kapoor is not known to have too many friends in the film industry, a policy she has assiduously followed as a matter of course. It seems Ranbir Kapoor's betrayal (he and Sonam were very close friends before romantic stirrings between the two ended their friendship rather disastrously) had ensured that Sonam would stay away from future industry friendships. It is believed she confided in her friends that Ranbir's betrayal had hurt her a little too deeply. But she now seems to have made an exception for Asin. The two actresses have been spotted bonding of late, and friends close to both, say it's because they share common interests.
“They're of the same age, so Asin and Sonam are bonding big time,” a little birdie tells us. Apparently, the two actresses have a “Third Musketeer” too, in the form of Jacqueline Fernandez. “Jacky and Asin are my real close friends,” Sonam says. “I'm really jealous as they're getting to work together in Housefull 2! They keep sending me updates from the shoot.” Sonam says that in her book, friendship is for keeps, adding, “You can't choose the family you belong to, but you can choose your friends. And that makes them all the more special.” In an industry full of catfights and rivalry, it's nice to see these girls make an exception!
ASIN'S NEW YEAR PLANS
Asin, who has just celebrated Christmas in a grand manner in Mumbai, will welcome the New Year with her parents at a new property she recently bought at Vagamam, a hill station in Kerala. It's a 25-acre farm with a steam flowing in front of it. "I normally used to celebrate Christmas in Kerala. But this year I couldn't. But I have no worries, as I will be there this weekend to welcome the New Year. I guess my parents are making some arrangements," says the 'Malabar' girl. Reacting to reports that she will be Superstar Rajinikanth's pair in 'Kochadaiyaan', Asin says, "They are unconfirmed reports. Till date, I have not signed Kochadaiyaan. But I will be very happy to share the screen space with Rajini sir if I get an offer." A popular actress in Tamil and Telugu, the Kerala girl made it big in Bollywood with 'Ghajini' starring Aamir Khan. This made her to buy an apartment at a posh area in Mumbai and settle there, to focus on offers from Hindi film industry. Her last release in Kollywood is Vijay starrer 'Kaavalan'.
