“All the three causes (education, health and safety for women) are inter-linked and are very close to my heart” says actor Asin, as she talks about the DNA I Can Women's Half Marathon. Lending support to this initiative, she says that awareness about good health for women is of utmost importance. “I come from a family where we talk about these issues at home. My mother is a doctor, so all my life I have grown up, knowing the importance of good health. Issues like cervical cancer do not get written about. Very few people know what it really is and this marathon is a fantastic initiative on DNA's part to spread awareness about an issue like this”, says Asin.
Ever since she's shifted her base from her hometown in Kerala to Mumbai, the actor can't stress enough on the second cause — women's safety in public places. “I see so many incidents of women being mistreated and abused in the papers so often, that this is one of the biggest issues we need to tackle. Women should be protected and their safety is of prime importance. We should ensure that is taken care of,” says Asin. All this, she says, stems from the fact that proper education facilities are denied to women. “All three causes that DNA has decided to tackle are wonderful,” she adds.
Educating the girl child is one of the causes, she has personally been actively involved with, says Asin. “This cause is probably one of the biggest women centric issues in our country. I support the education of six children each year, five of which are girls. I have closely worked with these children and I know that if given the opportunity, women can educate themselves much better and know what is wrong or right for them. Education is a basic right and women should not be deprieved of that. Through this initiative, I am hoping DNA is able to spread more awareness amongst people.”
The article I published earlier seems to be a RUMOUR! Asin hasn't signed any films with Shahrukh Khan or Ranbir Kapoor Yet!
South beauty Asin Thottumkal denies she has bagged two prime projects opposite Bollywood's leading men, Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor
Asin's Bollywood debut was opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini; she then had two films with Salman Khan(London Dreams and Ready). At the moment she is filming with Ajay Devgn for Bol Bachchan and Akshay Kumar in Housefull 2. The lady who has so far been lucky to work with the big names of Bollywood was reported to have signed Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express with Shahrukh Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala's screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 'Two States' opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
However, immediately after the story broke out, the Ghajini debutant sprung into action. She sent out a press release denying the report. It reads: “I am shocked and surprised at these rumours. I don't know how a particular journalist can write that when I haven't even spoken anything to anyone. It's wrong. I'm not the kind of person to talk about my films before I have signed them. I have never done that before in my career and that's not my ethics. If I have signed something I let the production house announce it. Of course, I would love to work with SRK, Ranbir, Rohit and Sajid again for their respective films, but as of now it's too early to say anything.”
Asin who is focussing all her energies on B'wood blockbusters with the top heroes has reacted to rumours on her SRK film.
The dusky diva who was recently posing with SRK at Riteish-Genelia wedding it seems has gotten into the promotional gear already. “I am doing SRK's next. Currently I am focussing on Bol Bachchan and Housefull 2. I am also working with Ranbir in Two States.”
The lady who is excited to pair opposite Ranbir, says, “I loved the book and agreed to do the film. The film's final script isn't yet ready. I have been planning my look for it in detail, which I will reveal soon.”
Speaking about her next with Shah Rukh, she says, “Shah Rukh was meant to do Two States, but things took a different turn but he has cast me in his next.”
